Dont you just love those little Emoticons! I just love them and use them at every opportunity possible, and I can say so many things with just a few emojis. Its not just me; people everywhere are using smileys in every possible conversation whether it is a message, an email or video and chats over the Internet. Talking emojis is the newest rage the world over and it is considered to be one of the fastest growing languages in the U.K.
Science says, humans are visual creatures, which is why the phrase “A picture says it all” is such a cliché. Did you know our brain processes images 60 thousand times faster than a text? Wow! Thats quite a fast isnt it?
If you havent tried using emoji, then here is why you may want to go the “Emoji Way”
Used more often: It is market perception that things used often may result in customer weariness, resulting in criticism. However, this does not hold true for Emoji Marketing Strategies. Instead of bad returns, advertisers have been getting better results from messages that used emoticons.
Increasing number of campaigns: In the last year, the number of customer messages that included emoticons increased by nearly 775 percent. If that doesnt tell you how successful these campaigns are, then maybe this will. More than 80 Million messages with emojis were sent out in June this year, as compared to 14.5 Million messages sent out in June last year.
Everyone likes Emoji’s: The journey for advertisers using emoticons in their ads has been great, though it has the potential to grow further. A recent poll conducted by Appboy to understand how people felt about emojis found, more than 64 percent love them, while a mere 6 percent dislike them. A whopping 86 percent said they used emoticons in their personal messages all the time. Nearly 40 percent people believed brands were fun, relatable, normal and professional too. However, there were some who also found such messages immature and unsuitable.
Now that you know a little more about this wonderful strategy, you may want to just jump onto the bandwagon. A word of caution, using emoticons in your messages is a great way to engage your customers; however, you need to do it right. Understand your customer first and do not inundate them with SMSs, e-mails, push notifications or in-app messages all at the same time. Starting slow is the best way to go….
