Everything You Need To Know About a Day in the Life of a Social Media Manager – Part 3
In the previous article I spoke about the tasks one does as a social media manager in detail. To conclude my day at work, I have a checklist that I follow. You can take a look at my checklist for different social media platforms mentioned below.
- Search for and like 5-6 pages
- Reply or comment on at least 2 different pages
- Put up two updates on our official page
- Add a CTA to every update
- Include trending #tags in the content
- Most important – Tag people and pages in your posts
- Put up at least 3-4 posts a day on Twitter. It can be based on the brand, the business industry, something interesting to increase your followers.
- Retweet at least twice a day
- Include hashtags # in your posts so that they appear on trending topics
- Follow a minimum of 10 people a day. Could be influencers or supporters or people with interesting fans.
- Use the Quote Retweet instead of the normal retweet option. Add a comment like Fantastic! RT @buffer how to beat #social-media woes
- Connect with a minimum of 3-5 peers and other industry influencers in a week
- Follow 3 different company pages in 7 days
- Ask for one or two recommendations from people in your list during the week
- Post or repost your blogs on the LinkedIn news feed
- Put up an industry related article on the official newsfeed with a CTA.
- Create a new pin or pin board related to your business every week and post it
- Set aside around 20 minutes a day to add more pins to your existing boards
- Motivate your followers to add to boards
- Like and follow at least 4-6 influencers on Pinterest
- Use the right keywords, #tags and make sure you describe the board or the pin completely.
- Put up one image a day
- Include trending hashtags in your image description.
- Follow 8-10 people on Instagram a day
- Add your comments to at least 5-6 follower posts every day
- Like a minimum of 25 of other images a day, especially your follower images.
- Add a location to your image wherever required
- Share the image on other social media platforms.
- Create link backs to the community whenever you can
Foursquare
- Check-in to your workplace everyday
- Ask other colleagues to join you on foursquare
- Connect with new Twitter followers using foursquare
- Promote your events and special occasions in advance by creating check-ins for each one of them
- Add a few guidelines and review a few local establishments a week
- Most importantly, post your foursquare check-ins on twitter with an apt description.
Blogs
- Write a blog a day
- Connect with other bloggers in the community and comment on 2-3 blogs
- Search for 1 blog a day that you can follow and keep up with. You can bookmark it or subscribe to its RSS feed
- Post your blogs on every social media platform you have a presence on like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and others.
- Follow other blogs on their Facebook or Twitter pages
Google+
- Expand your circles and add 5 people to it every day
- Search for or share fresh content that is relevant to your business page a day
- Set up and host a Google+ webinar or discussion once a week for a topic related to your industry
- Add people to different categories, put up descriptions to your posts and include relevant and trending #tags
- Build a sub-group for your community on Reddit
- Create new threads, at least one a day
- Create an email alert to observe new threads
- Comment or participate in two or three new threads on Reddit that are not co-related to your business Do AMA conversations whenever you can
- Most importantly use Reddit to engage with your community and not promote to them.
Oh wow! That’s quite a checklist there. Follow the checklists and you will definitely stay on top of your schedule and get a chance to pursue the desired results you want.
